#NYTReadalong | Don Yaeger (Author, Podcast host, Fmr. Sports Illustrated Assoc. Editor)

Our guest on this week’s edition of @Sree’s Sunday #NYTReadalong is Don Yaeger, an 11-time New York Times best-selling author and longtime associate editor for Sports Illustrated. He is the host of the Corporate Competitor Podcast, where he interviews CEOs and talks about the lessons they learned through sports.

As a journalist, Don has pursued some incredible stories. He hiked through Afghanistan with the mujahedeen as they fought the Soviets; spent a year working with the FBI on a Sports Illustrated cover story on pedophiles in Youth Sports; lived with football legend Walter Payton and his family as Payton was dying; traveled around Europe and the Middle East interviewing Iraqi athletes tortured by Saddam Hussein’s son Uday, chairman of the Iraqi Olympic Committee; traveled with candidates from both parties during presidential campaigns and chronicled the high-profile Duke lacrosse scandal.

Don began his career as a reporter for the San Antonio Light where he rose through the ranks to pen investigative features for the daily. He later moved on to the Dallas Morning News. Following his time in Dallas, Yaeger worked as a political editor for the Florida Times-Union.

Yaeger’s first book, Undue Process: The NCAA’s Injustice for All, was published in 1990. In the nearly 30 years since, he has penned 28 more books, including eleven New York Times best-sellers covering scandals at Notre Dame and Duke; co-authoring biographies of football and baseball stars and writing books on George Washington, Andrew Jackson and Thomas Jefferson.

He is currently working on a book about the Savannah Bananas baseball team.
